Job Purpose:

The Software Architect / Lead Developer will make intuitive high level decisions for software development and the architecture of applications. You will see the "big picture" and create architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide the development of complex integrated systems. You will mentor and support junior developers, write and debug code, analyze data, and other software development tasks during the development of projects.

• BS degree or equivalent work experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Key Job Elements:

• Collaborate with team members to determine best practices and requirements for software development processes and tools;

• Actively seek ways to improve software development processes and application design;

• Proactively research best practices in coding;

• Ensure software security is embedded into all software processes, architecture, and design;

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to determine functional and non-functional requirements for software or applications;

• Work with analysts to understand requirements to ensure proper software architecture and design;

• Work with software testers to ensure proper test cases for the target design and application functionality;

• Mentor team members to ensure an understanding of the application architecture and design;

• Document software architecture and design to communicate with stakeholders as well as the development team;

• Document and communicate trade-offs, pros, and cons for design decisions;

• Design, develop, test, debug, and support custom applications;

• Perform code reviews;

• Regularly analyze code for adherence to design, quality, and security standards;

• Troubleshoot coding problems and application issues;

• Keep up-to-date with industry trends and technology developments.

Qualifications and Experience:

• 5+ years of experience designing and developing application software;

• Solid experience developing and documenting software architectures;

• Solid experience developing software utilizing various technologies including Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Kafka, Docker, and Scala;

• Solid experience building microservice solutions;

• Solid experience designing and building application solutions for cloud deployments (AWS);

• Solid experience building and deploying containerized solutions;

• Solid experience with secure development principles, practices, and tools;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

• Strong communication skills;

• Demonstrated knowledge of web applications, cybersecurity and open source technologies.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with any of the following technologies: JavaScript, Kotlin, Python, ElasticSearch, Cassandra, Postgres;

• Demonstrated project management and Agile methodology skills.
