Position Description:

What You Will Do

Perform an intermediate level of project planning, design, and engineering drafting, using platforms such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ESRI ArcMap (GIS), and Solid Works to create and edit engineering and construction drawings.

Use and consider information in engineering support and drafting engineering records, third-party civil site plans and utility infrastructure data, traffic control plans, governmental engineering plans, GIS data, highway/railroad crossing permits, right of way drawings and survey information, architectural/mechanical drawings and environmental impacts and permits.

Use Windows-based software, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, ESRI ArcMap GIS, Solid Works, Microsoft suites, Adobe products and general knowledge of plotter equipment to create and edit data relevant to gas design, reports, system planning for subdivisions, private relocation, industrial meters and government relocation.

Design and drafts site plans, limits of construction, public right of way utility plan view layouts, proposed agreement of gas facilities, paving, restoration and traffic control plans.

Enter construction project data into Maximo related to asset identification, field work orders, job plans, management of change orders and technical reviews.

Create, edits and maintain GIS, CAD and data relevant to gas design, reports and system planning.

Identify potential project constraints, best approach and possible alternative for developing and completing projects.

Consider the impact and necessary requirements of construction easements and private right of way requirements as it pertains to engineering/construction plans and drawings.

Perform project estimation per company standards using proprietary Maximo CUE application by entering, accounting and planning for all aspects of pre-construction, construction, contract labor, restoration and bill of materials.

Identify and acquire necessary public right-of-way, development, and general permits with city, county, railroad, canal, state and multiple environmental agencies.

Prioritize concurrent pipeline design projects.

Incorporate required quality control measures and perform peer project reviews.

Work with multiple team members, field departments, vendors and outside agencies.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Employee may perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

What You Will Need

Bachelor's degree, certification or equivalent Computer Aided Design experience preferred.

Two or more years of experience required in pipeline design, drafting, project management and project estimations.

Working knowledge of civil site planning and design, construction logistics, distribution/transmission pipeline operations, government regulations, pipeline and mechanical design, land development, and utility and architectural design.

Apply basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Apply decimals and percentages. Apply geometric formulas and ability to convert between multiple units.

Demonstrated ability in project management and research capability to handle all aspects of design projects from beginning to end.

Demonstrated ability with survey notes, right of way information, maps, blueprints, and legal descriptions.

Knowledge of records, files, data systems, numbering systems, filing structures, and available resources. Can retrieve and return records to their appropriate locations.

Read and write fluently in English.

Civil or mechanical engineering design experience preferred.

Applicable driver's license. Requires travel to other company offices and facilities and to job sites.

Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 2 to 3 times a week; up to 30 pounds 3 to 4 times a month.

Stationary for extended periods.

Fine motor skills to draw minute details.

Operate tools and equipment.

Some field visits will ensure correct location, assess site conditions, identify construction constraints and obstacles and discuss timelines.

Visual ability to perform job responsibilities.
