Assistant Teacher

Position Summary:

To assist the classroom teacher by providing a warm, nurturing and safe environment for the children where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected in accordance with organizational policies and state and local requirements. Assist in the implementation of daily activities under the guidance of the teacher. Coordinate daily activities in the absence of the teacher.

Recruitment Requirements:

1. A high school diploma or general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum such as the Certified Childcare Professional credential (CCP) or the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

2. A high school diploma or a general education development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of documented experience working with children.

3. A high school diploma or a general education development certificate and 2 years of documented experience working with children.

4. Criminal history and child abuse clearance.
